BIOSPHERE RESERVE

A Biosphere Reserve is divided into three zones.

 

Core Area Buffer Zone Transition Area Human Settlement Research Monitornig Education, Training Tourism,Recreation

 

A. The core area(s)

comprises the most protected sites, prioritizing the conservation of biological diversity where research and monitoring activities are carried out. It is protected by domestic laws.

 

B. The buffer zone

surrounds of adjoins the core area(s), and may be used for cooperative activities compatible with sound ecological practices including environmental education, ecotourism and applied and basic research.

 

C. The transition area

is where communities foster socio-culturally and ecologically sustainable economic and human activities. This area may be used for agriculture, fishery, forestry and residential areas, where local communities, management agencies, scientist, non- governmental organizations, environmental / cultural groups, economic interests, and other stakeholders work together to manage and sustainable develop the area’s resources.
